Faith Lutheran Church Votes to Leave the ELCA

Faith Lutheran Church on Main Street in Hutchinson, close to completing its new addition, is doing another remodel with its affiliation of the ELCA.   The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America was formed over 20 years ago and has about 10,500 churches. That number is dwindling because along with Christ the King in Hutchinson they are both in the process of leaving.

With 201 members present at Sunday's special meeting they voted to start the process to leave the ELCA by a vote of 178 to 23.

The next step is to have the local Bishop consult with they within the next 90 days and then another vote will be taken to formally leave the ELCA.

This has not been easy for the church but they could no longer accept the over 20 years of drift away from the core Lutheran Theology that has taken place.
